Basketball Game Preview: Dell Rapids Quarriers vs. Madison Bulldogs

Dell Rapids and Madison are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Dell Rapids Quarriers are taking a road trip to challenge the Madison Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dell Rapids will be strutting in after a victory while Madison will be coming in after a loss.

Last Monday, Dell Rapids blew past Parker, posting a 61-32 win. Given the Quarriers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Pheasants are ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Madison ended up a good deal behind Flandreau on Friday and lost 60-46. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dell Rapids has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Madison, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

Dell Rapids came out on top in a nail-biter against Madison when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 55-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dell Rapids since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
