Baseball Game Preview: Northshore Panthers vs. Acadiana Rams

The Northshore Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Acadiana Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Northshore will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Northshore faced off against Pope John Paul II on Monday. Northshore never let Pope John Paul II onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by just one run.

The result came thanks to Carson Malasovich's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned runs in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Northshore saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Weilbaecher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Weilbaecher's stolen this season. Brody Dukes was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Acadiana suffered their closest defeat since March 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Ponchatoula by a score of 6-4.

Northshore's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs over those games. As for Acadiana, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
