Soccer Recap: Swampscott Comes Up Short

After flying high against Gloucester on Wednesday, Swampscott came back down to earth. The Big Blue fell 2-0 to the Winthrop Vikings on Friday. Swampscott were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Winthrop earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Swampscott's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1-1 and their overall record down to 5-5-2. As for Winthrop, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4-3 record this season.

Swampscott will be playing in front of their home fans against Masconomet Regional at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Swampscott will need to watch out since Masconomet Regional have now posted at least four goals in their last three matchups. As for Winthrop, they will head out to challenge Saugus at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
