Softball Recap: Atkins Comes Up Short

Atkins came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Bauxite Miners by a score of 10-8 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Devils have suffered since March 14th.

Atkins saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Azzy Ketchum, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two doubles. Aubrey May was another, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Atkins and nudges their season record down to 3-9. As for Bauxite, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

Coming up, Atkins will square off against Dover at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bauxite, they will challenge Malvern at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Leopards' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Miners' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
