Football Game Preview: Mater Dei Knights vs. Miller Career Academy/Vashon/Sumner Phoenix

The Mater Dei Knights will square off against the Miller Career Academy/Vashon/Sumner Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Mater Dei was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-35 to Macomb. The Knights were up 21-7 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the defeat, Mater Dei saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Hunter Hochbaum rushed for 67 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 239 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Miller Career Academy/Vashon/Sumner). They enjoyed a cozy 38-24 victory over Lutheran on Friday.

Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Miller Career Academy/Vashon/Sumner, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
