Volleyball Recap: Overhills Jaguars vs. Pinecrest Patriots
Overhills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pinecrest Patriots. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2016.
The match came down to the wire multiple times:three sets needed extra rallies to declare a winner. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 19-25, 24-26, 27-25, 15-10.
Ally Williams paced Overhills' offense, picking up 23 kills. Williams got some help from Sophia Singh and her 43 assists. Williams was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.
Leading Pinecrest to victory were Callie Garrison and Reece Baldwin. Garrison had 12 assists and eight digs, while Baldwin had 12 digs and two assists. Those eight digs gave Garrison a new career-high.
Overhills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Pinecrest, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4.
