Basketball Game Preview: Granite Falls Tigers vs. South Whidbey Falcons

Granite Falls is 2-8 against South Whidbey since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Granite Falls Tigers will host the South Whidbey Falcons at 6:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, Granite Falls came up short against Bush and fell 61-53.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Whidbey). They breezed by Summit Sierra to the tune of 64-15 on Friday. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-7.

Granite Falls better focus on containing Cameron McGill and Robby Sullivan as the pair were huge in South Whidbey's win. McGill almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 boards, while Sullivan posted ten points along with six steals and five boards. Sullivan is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Weston Dill was another key player, putting up seven points.

South Whidbey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Granite Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for South Whidbey, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Granite Falls skirted past South Whidbey 51-49 when the teams last played back in January. Will Granite Falls repeat their success, or does South Whidbey have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
