Softball Game Preview: Riverdale Cowboys vs. Torres Toros

The Riverdale Cowboys will square off against the Torres Toros at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Riverdale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Laton get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Torres, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Granite Hills 11-1 on Friday.

Layla Webster spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mylah Avila, who went 3-for-4 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ariana Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
