Basketball Recap: NC GBB Academy National Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Mallard Creek

On Thursday, NC GBB Academy National faced Mallard Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The NC GBB Academy National Eagles fell 59-46 to the Mallard Creek Mavericks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mallard Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elle Stone, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Stone also racked up five assists, the most she's had since back in January. Kiara Anderson was another key player, going 8 for 16 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

NC GBB Academy National's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Mallard Creek, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

NC GBB Academy National wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-38 victory against Oak City Prep on the 27th. As for Mallard Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-57 win against DME Academy on the 27th.
