Preview: Cedar Grove Saints vs. Valdosta Wildcats
Having just played yesterday, the Cedar Grove Saints will jump right back in to play the Valdosta Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Cedar Grove beat Sumter County 54-45. Given Cedar Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Sumter County is ranked 418th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cedar Grove's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dontavius Stringfield, who scored 14 points, and Emmanuel Green, who scored 24 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Valdosta has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 33 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 74-39 win over Brooks County. The victory was familiar territory for Valdosta who now have three in a row.
Cedar Grove's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Valdosta, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
