Recap: Martin County Knights vs. Hunt Warriors
On Saturday, Martin County came up short against Hunt and fell 61-53. While losing is never fun, Martin County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Hunt is ranked 118th).
Despite the loss, Martin County saw an underclassman step up: Jordan Matthewson scored 33 points. The contest was Matthewson's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Martin County's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Hunt, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Martin County will be playing at home against Southside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southside has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17. As for Hunt, they will head out on the road to face off against Bertie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bertie has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 249 points over their last four contests.
