Baseball Recap: Fannett Metal Snaps 11-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Fannett Metal dropped their record down to 5-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 7-3 to the Rockwood Rockets. Fannett Metal was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rockwood apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Fannett Metal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Seibert, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Rockwood, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

On Rockwood's side, Davis Bruening made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Bruening has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Max Trimpey was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Conner Handwerk was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Fannett Metal didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-2 win against Shalom Christian Academy on the 21st. As for Rockwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against McConnellsburg on the 22nd.
