Baseball Game Preview: East Central Hornets vs. Wayne County War Eagles

For the second straight game, East Central will face off against Wayne County. The Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Central is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Last Tuesday, East Central got the win against Wayne County by a conclusive 12-2.

Porter Martin made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Martin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jaxon Cripps was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for East Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian McFaul, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

East Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne County only posted an OBP of .308.

East Central pushed their record up to 15-12 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Wayne County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
