Basketball Game Preview: Clearfield Falcons vs. Box Elder Bees

The Clearfield Falcons will challenge the Box Elder Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clearfield has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 10.

Clearfield is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bountiful on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Clearfield lost 69-44 to Bountiful. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the RedHawks are ranked 15th).

Box Elder fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Bonneville by a score of 62-52 on Wednesday.

Clearfield better keep an eye on Mayson Jeppsen. He was instrumental in Box Elder's win, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Jeppsen a new career-high in points. Ryan Jenson was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Box Elder was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are 2-9 when they've passed the ball that well.

Box Elder's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. As for Clearfield, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-12.

Clearfield couldn't quite finish off Box Elder in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 55-52. Can Clearfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
