Baseball Recap: Fayette Academy Gets the Win

Fayette Academy took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Southaven, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Fayette Academy Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Southaven Chargers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 20, 2024.

Hayden Fly and Jacoby Hoskins did most of the damage at the plate: Fly went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hoskins went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Hoskins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jared Ferge, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Fayette Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fayette Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Southaven, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
