Basketball Game Preview: Pathway Christian Panthers vs. Unity Christian Knights

Pathway Christian is 7-2 against Unity Christian since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pathway Christian Panthers will take on the Unity Christian Knights at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pathway Christian is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Faith Christian on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Pathway Christian was dealt a 70-43 defeat at the hands of Faith Christian. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost nine in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Denver Nelson, who posted 14 points and five assists. Preston Yutzy was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 10 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Unity Christian was beaten by Quad Cities Christian 73-33 on Tuesday. The Knights were down 52-25 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Unity Christian dropped their record down to 6-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pathway Christian, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Pathway Christian took their victory against Unity Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 44-22. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pathway Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
