Southside had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Glenwood Gators by a score of 34-21 on Friday. The Panthers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Southside found their leader in sophomore Kole Moody, who threw for 288 yards and three TDs while completing 74.1% of his passes. Jaibrien Gresham helped Moody out on the ground, rushing for 85 yards and one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Southside proved: they limited Glenwood to a paltry one yards per carry. The team can thank Kendell Wilson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Southside hasn't allowed more than five yards per carry in three consecutive contests.

Southside didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caeden Moody and Cedrick Simmons. Southside got some further help from Wilson: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Glenwood still got an impressive performance from Cal Lawrence, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one touchdown. Lawrence really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. Carter Judah got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Southside's victory bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Glenwood, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3.

Coming up, Southside will head out to challenge Bayside Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 973 yards in their previous games. Glenwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
