It was a proper cat-fight when Ramona Convent faced off against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary on Tuesday. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Cardinals.

Aiden Velazquez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Mariana Figueroa was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Monica made easy work of Bishop Conaty-Loretto on Tuesday and carried off a 24-7 victory. Considering the Mariners have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bella Urbina made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Savanna Hernandez was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five runs, and four RBI while going 5-for-5. Another player making a difference was Katrina Olmedo, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
St. Monica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Conaty-Loretto only posted an OBP of .429.
St. Monica's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.4 runs over those games. As for Ramona Convent, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ramona Convent hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .469. However, it's not like St. Monica struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
