Soccer Game Preview: North Canyon vs. Paradise Valley

The North Canyon Rattlers are taking a road trip to face off against the Paradise Valley Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Canyon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for North Canyon's offense. They came up short against Canyon View on Tuesday, falling 13-0. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paradise Valley). They never let Shadow Mountain onto the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Trojans with their most commanding win of the season.

Their offense was hitting Shadow Mountain from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Mia Vargas led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Paradise Valley pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three contests. As for North Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

North Canyon suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Paradise Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can North Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
