Baseball Game Preview: Middletown South Eagles vs. Christian Brothers Academy Colts

Middletown South has won eight straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Christian Brothers Academy has won eight straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Eagles will host the Colts at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Middletown South barely beat Marlboro the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-1 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won eight in a row.

Peter DeNicola looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Brendan Sliva and Mike Frandsen did most of the damage at the plate: Sliva went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Frandsen scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Pat Dempsey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.

Middletown South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. The last time their OBP was this high was since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Christian Brothers Academy earned a 6-3 victory over Ranney on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Colts have won by exactly three runs.

Christian Brothers Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Middletown South, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
