Baseball Recap: Ursuline Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ursuline ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the South Range Raiders 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Fighting Irish: when they faced off against the Raiders back in April, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Anthony Triveri made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Triveri wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joe Balog, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Ursuline has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for South Range, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Looking ahead, Ursuline will take on Canfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Range, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
