Baseball Game Preview: Colonial Beach Drifters vs. Northumberland Indians

Colonial Beach hasn't had much luck against Northumberland recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Drifters will welcome the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Colonial Beach has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Colonial Beach fell victim to Essex and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 16-0 to the Trojans. The Drifters have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northumberland put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Westmoreland a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won ten matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Northumberland's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Colonial Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Colonial Beach suffered a grim 23-0 defeat to Northumberland in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Drifters avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
