Basketball Recap: Charles Page Sandites vs. Putnam City Pirates
The Charles Page Sandites won the last time they faced the Putnam City Pirates, and things went their way on Friday too. Charles Page strolled past the Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 51-34. Given Charles Page's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Pirates are ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Deke Thompson was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zane Fueshko, who scored ten points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Charles Page and bumps their season record up to 12-6. As for Putnam City, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12.
Charles Page won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Generals at 3:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Grant is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Putnam City, they will head out on the road to take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
