Volleyball Recap: Pender's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Pender had to endure a seven-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Southwest Onslow Stallions on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Stallions back in September, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

While Pender might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Southwest Onslow scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Jensen Bordeaux had a dynamite game, getting 21 digs, nine kills, and four aces. That's the most kills she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Eden Gurganous, who had 18 digs and one assist.

Despite the loss, Southwest Onslow saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor Orr had 13 digs and one assist. Orr has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Pender's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 5-13. As for Southwest Onslow, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7.

Pender wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against North Brunswick on the 6th. As for Southwest Onslow, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Heide Trask on the 7th.
