Football Game Preview: Whiteland Warriors vs. East Central Trojans

The Whiteland Warriors will take on the East Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whiteland will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Whiteland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 42-21 margin over Columbus East. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Whiteland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jake Klemme and Dane Kunz. Abe Gonzalez was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making ten total tackles.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for East Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in October. They strolled past Franklin Community with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 21-7. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Grizzly Cubs are ranked 96th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

One reason for the win was East Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Troy Sebastian, Nyden Euson, and Parker Schneider, who each picked up one sack apiece.

East Central's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Whiteland, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Whiteland has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 260.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 262.3 rushing yards.
