Baseball Recap: Northeastern Comes Up Short

Northeastern couldn't beat West Liberty-Salem on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Jets came up short against the Tigers, falling 10-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jets of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Levi Mefford and Jake Newman did some serious damage despite the final result: Mefford went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Newman went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. Nick Rupp also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Northeastern's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for West Liberty-Salem, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-7 record.

Looking ahead, Northeastern will face off against Greeneview at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Liberty-Salem, they are taking a road trip to take on Catholic Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
