Preview: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Steinbrenner Warriors
After three games on the road, Academy of the Holy Names is heading back home. They will take on the Steinbrenner Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Academy of the Holy Names has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 27 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 67-15 win over St. Petersburg Catholic on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-7.
Lucy Morey was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Academy of the Holy Names' points. Hailey Scott was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Steinbrenner had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Mitchell by a score of 56-43.
Academy of the Holy Names' victory lifted them to 4-0 while St. Petersburg Catholic's defeat dropped them down to 0-2.
Academy of the Holy Names took their victory against Steinbrenner in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 by a conclusive 50-26. Does Academy of the Holy Names have another victory up their sleeve, or will Steinbrenner turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
