Recap: Millers Creek Christian Lions vs. University Christian Barracudas
The Millers Creek Christian Lions entered their tilt with the University Christian Barracudas with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Millers Creek Christian came out on top against University Christian by a score of 34-22 on Monday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Millers Creek Christian has scored all season.
It was another big night for Cam Layaou, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Layaou's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Noah Heath, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Despite the defeat, University Christian saw an underclassman step up: Patrick Garmon scored seven points. Garmon continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Millers Creek Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for University Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Millers Creek Christian will head out on the road to face off against Ashe County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. University Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Lure Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
