Basketball Recap: Beau Brake and Luke Bledsoe Secure Win for Coastal Brigade

Coastal Brigade proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 25) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Ahoskie Christian 56-53.

Coastal Brigade was led to victory by Luke Bledsoe and Beau Brake. Bledsoe went 6-for-11 to rack up 18 points, while Brake dropped a double-double with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 boards gave Brake a new career-high. Kai Betts was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 11 points.

When it comes to explaining why Ahoskie Christian lost, don't look at Jaelen Rascoe. Despite the final result, he went 12-for-18 on his way to 28 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Rascoe's big performance that afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Ian Leary, who posted eight points.

Coastal Brigade's record now sits at 3-1. As for Ahoskie Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-2.

Coincidentally, Coastal Brigade and Ahoskie Christian will both be playing Mount Calvary Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Coastal Brigade will head out to face Mount Calvary Christian Academy at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, while Ahoskie Christian will head out to face them at 2:15 p.m. on Friday.
