Preview: Marion Scarlet Hurricanes vs. Gate City Blue Devils
The Marion Scarlet Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Gate City Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Even though Marion has not done well against Virginia High recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Marion came out on top in a nail-biter against Virginia High and snuck past 22-20.
Ethan Campbell was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown. Campbell's longest rush was for an incredible 93 yards.
Meanwhile, Gate City got themselves on the board against Ridgeview on Friday, but Ridgeview never followed suit. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 28-0 win over the Wolfpack. Gate City might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won three contests by 27 points or more this season.
Marion now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Gate City, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Marion came up short against Gate City when the teams last played back in September, falling 20-7. Can Marion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
