Softball Recap: Barron Wins Going Away Against Ashland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barron). They blew past the Ashland Oredockers 15-7 on Tuesday. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Oredockers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Kailynn Duncan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Madalyn Kallsen was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Ariella McDonald was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Barron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Barron back to even at 2-2-1. As for Ashland, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Barron will square off against Hayward at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hurricanes will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Golden Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ashland, they are taking a road trip to square off against Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Oredockers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
