Football Recap: DJ Davis Key Part of Team Effort in Eagles Win + How To Watch

After only seven points in their last game, West Craven made sure to put some points up on the board against Wilson Prep on Friday. The Eagles strolled past the Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 33-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

West Craven's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DJ Davis led the charge by throwing for 231 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 93 yards and one TD. Jeremiah Leigh also helped with three scores in total.

Another reason for the win was West Craven's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. Wilson Prep's QB won't forget Emmanuel Miller anytime soon given he sacked him 5.5 times. Miller has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Despite the loss, Wilson Prep still got an impressive performance from Tyquan Whitaker, who picked up 56 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 43 yards. Whitaker showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 56 yards. Travon Usher was another key player, throwing for 101 yards and one TD.

West Craven has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Wilson Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Craven will face off against New Bern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wilson Prep, they will square off against Greene Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 887 yards in their previous games.
