Baseball Recap: Plainview Comes Up Short

Plainview fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against New Hope on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 3-2. The Bears' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Trey Rutledge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has become a key player for Plainview: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 5-10 otherwise.

Plainview's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for New Hope, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-12.

While Plainview had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
