Basketball Game Preview: Heide Trask Titans vs. North Brunswick Scorpions

The Heide Trask Titans will face off against the North Brunswick Scorpions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

If Heide Trask beats North Brunswick with 61 points on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Heide Trask managed a 61-57 victory over South Columbus on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Titans who have now won three contests in a row.

Heide Trask can attribute much of their success to Trey Paffenroth, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards, and Gio Driggers, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. What's more, Driggers also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Cheatam, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Brunswick). They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat South Brunswick 81-44. The victory was some much needed relief for the Scorpions as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Heide Trask has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for North Brunswick, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Heide Trask came up short against North Brunswick in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 73-66. Thankfully for Heide Trask, Malakhi Daniels (who went 11 of 20 on his way to 26 points in addition to six boards and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
