Basketball Game Preview: Curtis Vikings vs. Sumner Spartans

Curtis is 1-9 against Sumner since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Curtis Vikings will be playing at home against the Sumner Spartans at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Curtis was beaten by Rogers 48-18. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Rams are ranked 83rd).

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Sumner against South Kitsap on Friday as the squad secured a 55-14 win. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Sumner's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.1 points per game. As for Curtis, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Curtis was taken down by Sumner 65-14 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sumner's Olivia M Collins, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.
