Baseball Recap: Priceville Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Priceville Bulldogs came up short against the Shelby County Wildcats and fell 6-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Priceville got a good showing from Gage Vaughn, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Vaughn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Priceville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JD Pflueger, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Jack Eubanks was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Priceville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Shelby County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Priceville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 loss against Orange Beach on the 28th. As for Shelby County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats face off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
