Softball Recap: Wickenburg Comes Up Short

Wickenburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Chandler Prep on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 19-18. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (17), the Wranglers still had to take the loss.

Ariel Sprecher led a balanced group of hitters, going 5-for-6 with eight RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Tylee Buchert, who scored three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Wickenburg's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Chandler Prep, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3.

Looking ahead, Wickenburg will head out to face off against Gilbert Classical Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Chandler Prep, they will welcome St. John Paul II Catholic at 5:15 p.m. on the 11th.
