Basketball Recap: Ryan Baxley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Broward Prep over Hialeah Educational Academy

On Thursday, the North Broward Prep Eagles ended up a good deal behind the Hialeah Educational Academy Biggie and lost 55-36. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Baxley, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayden Smith, who earned four points along with five boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, North Broward Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hialeah Educational Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The match was Brooks' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Guerrero, who put up ten points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

North Broward Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

North Broward Prep will welcome Reagan at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. North Broward Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-42 victory against Norland on the 11th.
