Softball Game Preview: Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights vs. Orono Spartans

The Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Orono Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Wednesday, Benilde-St. Margaret's didn't have quite enough to beat New Prague and fell 5-4. The Red Knights have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Maddie Murry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Orono's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of St. Louis Park by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since May 4, 2024.

Benilde-St. Margaret's record now sits at 2-7. As for Orono, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 4-2.
