Baseball Recap: Cedar Grove-Belgium's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

Cedar Grove-Belgium dropped their record down to 12-2 on Saturday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kewaskum Indians. The Rockets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 7-0.

Brody Kraus made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Oelhafen, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Kewaskum, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.

On Kewaskum's side, Everett Donath was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Donath has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Liam Stoffel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Cedar Grove-Belgium will head out to take on Howards Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Kewaskum, they are taking a road trip to square off against Waupun at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
