Softball Recap: Spruce Creek Hawks vs. Taylor Wildcats
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Spruce Creek and Taylor have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. Spruce Creek came out on top against Taylor by a score of 7-2. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Reese Cianciarulo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Avery Helms was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Meagan Cowoski, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Spruce Creek's record is now 7-3. As for Taylor, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-5.
Coming up, Spruce Creek will host Melbourne at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Taylor, they will head out on the road to challenge Harmony at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
