Softball Game Preview: Waynesboro Indians vs. Shippensburg Greyhounds

Waynesboro is 2-8 against Shippensburg since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Greyhounds at 4:15 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Waynesboro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 16-15 win over Spring Grove on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Waynesboro got a massive performance out of Lydia Shank, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Shank a new career-high. Haley Reynolds was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Waynesboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.

Meanwhile, Shippensburg posted their closest win since April 6th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Boiling Springs, sneaking past 12-10.

Waynesboro's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Shippensburg, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
