Softball Recap: Buffalo Grove Victorious

While Buffalo Grove's victory against Vernon Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bison skirted past the Cougars 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Bison, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Natalie Whitson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Buffalo Grove saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Edler, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Erin Ryan, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Buffalo Grove is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vernon Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-19.

Coming up, Buffalo Grove will face off against Prospect at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Vernon Hills, they will square off against Highland Park at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
