Basketball Preview: Archbishop Bergan Knights vs. Oakland-Craig Knights

You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Archbishop Bergan's strategy against the Mustangs on Tuesday. Archbishop Bergan put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 45-24 victory. Given Archbishop Bergan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Mustangs are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Summer Bojanski, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Meyer, who scored five points along with three steals.
Oakland-Craig has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 53-46 to Clarkson/Leigh on Thursday.
Despite their defeat, Oakland-Craig saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bailey Pelan, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Adi Rennerfeldt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Archbishop Bergan is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Oakland-Craig, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Archbishop Bergan have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Oakland-Craig struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
