The jump from coaching high school football to leading a college program is pretty rare. The leap from high school football coach straight to the NFL is largely unheard of.
But
Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) coach Doug Rosfeld was chosen as an assistant to new Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, it was announced today.
Taylor, the first new Bengals coach since 2003, worked closely with Rosfeld at the University of Cincinnati for a season, and their families are close, according to the
Cincinnati Enquirer.
Rosfeld's job with the Bengals will largely be in an administrative role, according to the newspaper. Taylor, 35, was previously the quarterbacks coach with the Los Angeles Rams.
In his only season at Moeller, Rosfeld led the Fighting Crusaders to a 6-5 record. Moeller won the GCL South regular season title and Rosfeld was named the Coach of the Year.
"In his time at Moeller, Doug emphasized a culture of respect, hard work and faith, and he quickly impacted the lives of our students," Moeller president Marshall Hyzdu told the Enquirer.
Moeller named Todd Naumann, an assistant under Rosfeld, as the interim coach.
