Softball Recap: Bishop Foley Takes a Loss

Bishop Foley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Catholic Fighting Irish. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Friday.

Sasha Walker was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Abbey Jones was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Central Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Central Catholic's side, Addison Brinkman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. Brinkman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mackenzie Coleman was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Milla Bragg, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Foley will host Dearborn at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Ventures are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Central Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clay at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
