Baseball Game Preview: James Lick Comets vs. Silver Creek Raiders

James Lick hasn't had much luck against Silver Creek recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Comets will head out to take on the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. James Lick has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Meanwhile, Silver Creek fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Watsonville on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcatz by a score of 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered since March 11, 2024.

Wyatt Sharp and Nate Spellman did some serious damage despite the final result: Sharp got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI, while Spellman went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that Spellman hit this season.

James Lick now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Silver Creek, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-3.

Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. James Lick has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .539. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
