Soccer Game Preview: La Vernia vs. Yoakum

La Vernia has gone a perfect 7-0 against Yoakum recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The La Vernia Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Yoakum Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. La Vernia will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

La Vernia's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against San Antonio Memorial as La Vernia made off with an 8-0 victory. Considering the Bears have won eight contests by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Yoakum fell victim to Gonzales and their airtight defense on Friday. They lost 4-0 to the Apaches.

La Vernia pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 42 goals over those seven matchups. As for Yoakum, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4-1.

La Vernia took their victory against Yoakum in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Vernia since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
