Basketball Recap: Jontavuis Lett and J.T. Barlow Secure Win for Hillcrest

Hillcrest won the last time they faced T.R. Miller and things went their way on Saturday too. The Hillcrest Jaguars strolled past the T.R. Miller Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.

Hillcrest was led to victory by J.T. Barlow and Jontavuis Lett. Barlow went 9 for 17 on his way to 21 points and five assists, while Lett went 5 of 12 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Lett has posted since back in December of 2024. Dorian Watson was another key player, putting up six points and eight assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Hillcrest was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as T.R. Miller only racked up 11 assists.

When it comes to explaining why T.R. Miller lost, don't look at Eli Hubbert. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Myles Johnson, who earned eight points.

Hillcrest's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for T.R. Miller, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Hillcrest and T.R. Miller should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Hillcrest (ranked 132nd) will meet Flomaton (ranked 416th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillcrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. Meanwhile, T.R. Miller will face off against Northview at 7:00 p.m. on Monday up 518 places (256 vs. 774).
