Basketball Recap: Berea Comes Up Short

Berea extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-14. They came up short against the Seneca Bobcats, falling 92-68. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 92-88.

When it comes to explaining why Berea lost, don't look at CJ Durham. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points. Durham is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 4-2 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jhimeric Morton, who had 16 points.

As for Seneca, they pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Berea is ranked 206th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seneca to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Webb, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. What's more, Webb also posted a 53% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2025. Will Russell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Berea wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-64 loss against Blue Ridge on the 6th. As for Seneca, they will venture away from home to face off against Travelers Rest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
